Though it’s been referred to in jest as the North Avenue Trade School and formally known as the Georgia Institute of Technology, we all know it best as Georgia Tech. In 1882, the Georgia State Legislature approved a commission to explore bringing a school of technology to the state, and looked to MIT and Worcester Polytechnic Institute’s models of theory and practice to create an institute of the state’s own.
